Jenn Todryk breaks silence on ending No Demo Reno

Jenn Todryk is opening up about taking a break from her HGTV show, No Demo Reno, which aired three seasons from 2021 to 2023. Todryk, a 37-year-old influencer and home renovator, said on Instagram Stories this past April that she “chose to walk away” from the series because it was “the perfect time.”

She added in the post, “I didn’t want my kids to spend their childhood on a set. I didn’t want their home and safe space to feel like a set or (have them) be at home while I was away.”

Now, in an interview with People, Todryk has elaborated on why she made the choice. She said that when she started developing No Demo Reno in 2018, she and her husband, Mike Todryk, had just welcomed their first child, Vivienne.

During the next couple of years, the pair expanded their family. She became an executive producer for the second season of No Demo Reno, which further taxed her time.

“I was also behind the scenes as far as what the show’s tone was and how we showed everything, how we shot things,” she explained. She added that she “was exhausted, at the end of the day, trying to wear all the hats” that being a television personality and a mother demanded.

Todryk initially limited filming hours to between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., but that didn’t mean that her working day ended once the cameras stopped rolling.

“I would shoot and then I would put my kids to bed and then I’d have to watch cuts and look over beat sheets,” she told People.

Reflecting on season 3 of the show, Todryk said, “I was just trying to survive and to get to bedtime because I was so tired. I also have Hashimoto’s to a very severe degree, which is a thyroid disease and an autoimmune disorder. And so I was trying to navigate that and figure that out too.”

At a certain point, she decided she couldn’t stretch herself any further and told HGTV executives that she needed a break. Now, she’s concentrating on being a mother and creating content.

“I get to do my really fun thing, which is show up on social media, make my community and do whatever the heck I want and be weird as all get out,” she said.
