Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender allegedly has a new release date, as reported by ComicBook. According to a now-deleted July schedule shared by Paramount+ Brazil, the movie is listed to premiere on July 25, 2026. The animated film, which follows an adult Aang and his gang, was originally slated for an October 9, 2026 release exclusively on the streamer.
The alleged schedule has caused speculation among fans. Paramount has not confirmed or denied the accuracy of that schedule. But the post was quickly taken down, leaving the film’s actual release date murky once again. Interestingly, the official page of the movie has not listed a release date, only mentioning a 2026 release.

This wouldn’t be the first major shake-up in the movie’s rocky journey to release. What was once planned as a theatrical film was pulled from cinemas and reworked into a Paramount+ exclusive. Following this upsetting decision, the entire movie leaked online months ahead of schedule in April.
Why a Change in Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender‘s Release Date Can Happen
A still from Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender | Credits: Paramount PicturesThe most plausible explanation behind a possible early release ties directly back to April’s leak controversy. An X user going by the handle ImStillDissin claimed that Nickelodeon had accidentally emailed them the entire film, and as proof, posted clips along with an image of the movie’s credits (via Polygon).
A full high-definition leak of the movie surfaced online later. The leaker was arrested, but the movie was already making rounds on the internet by that time. The makers of the movie wanted to respond with a theatrical release, but Paramount remained silent on the matter.
The alleged July release schedule of Paramount+ | Credits: Paramount PicturesBesides the leak, there was also an uproar among fans after Paramount replaced the original Avatar: The Last Airbender voice actors with bigger names. Paramount Pictures might want to put a lid on the controversies, which they can do by releasing the movie earlier.
With Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender season two now streaming and animated films dominating the summer box office, an earlier release of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender could make strategic sense for Paramount, even if nothing is official yet.
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender: What We Know So Far
Back in December, Paramount revealed that the latest Avatar: The Last Airbender animated film will focus on an adult Aang. The report from THR stated that in the film, Aang will discover an ancient power that might save the world. The potential storyline, according to THR, read:
The world’s last Airbender learns of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. With the help of his friends, he embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens to upend the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve.
However, any details of this ‘ancient power’ have been kept under wraps so far. It could be possible that the ancient power could be another ancient Airbender trapped in ice for a long time. Earlier, Paramount revealed that none of the original actors were returning.
Eric Nam will voice the character of Aang, while Katara, Sokka, and Toph will be voiced by actors Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza, and Dionne Quan, respectively. In addition to the above-mentioned actors, Taika Waititi, Ke Huy Quan, Ken Jeong, Dave Bautista, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dee Bradley Baker, Peta Sergeant, and Freida Pinto are also part of the cast.
Lauren Montgomery, Steve Ahn, and William Mata are co-directing the new Avatar movie. But fans are more excited about the fact that Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are involved as executive producers in the movie. Montgomery confirmed in March through her Instagram post that the movie was scheduled to be released in October.
