A cargo ship travelling near the Strait of Hormuz has reported being attacked by “multiple small craft,” the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations centre said Sunday.

The attack, which was among at least two dozen attacks in and around the strait since the Iran war began, happened while U.S. President Donald Trump said he was reviewing Iran’s latest proposal to end the conflict.

Iran’s state-linked media reported new details from Tehran’s latest proposal, including a demand to resolve all issues within 30 days.

In a post on Truth Social Saturday night, the U.S. president said he “can’t imagine” that Iran’s proposal “would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years,” referring to the years since the Islamic Republic was established in Iran.

Iran had submitted a 14-point response to the U.S. proposal on Saturday through Pakistan, which has been a key mediator of peace talks between the two countries.

According to The Associated Press, citing semi-official Nour News and Tasnim agencies, other key points of Iran’s plan include the U.S. lifting sanctions on Iran, releasing Iran’s frozen assets, ending the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports, withdrawing forces from the region, and ending all hostilities, including the conflict in Lebanon.

It also called on payment of reparations and a new mechanism governing the Strait of Hormuz, which has essentially been closed due to duelling blockades by Iran and the U.S.

The AP said reports on Iran’s latest proposal made no mention of Iran’s nuclear program and its enriched uranium, which was a central issue in tensions with the U.S. Tehran wants to postpone discussions of its nuclear program for a later stage in talks.

Cargo ship reports attack near strait: Maritime agency

A bulk carrier sailing off the coast of Iran has reported being “attacked by multiple small craft,” the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said Sunday in a post on X.

The UKMTO said the incident was reported at around 11:30 a.m. UTC (7:30 a.m. ET) as the vessel was travelling 11 nautical miles west of Sirik, Iran.

“All crew reported safe and no environmental impact reported,” the UKMTO said.

The maritime agency did not say which country the vessel is registered with.

“Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO, while authorities investigate,” it said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, the first reported in the area since April 22, when a cargo ship reported being fired upon, the monitor said. The threat level in the area remains critical. Tehran effectively closed the strait by attacking and threatening ships.

Iranian patrol boats, some powered only by twin outboard motors, are small, nimble and hard to detect and have attacked several ships. President Donald Trump last month ordered the U.S. military to “shoot and kill” small Iranian boats that deploy mines in the strait.

Germany and U.S. ‘share same goal’: German foreign minister

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said he expressed Berlin’s support of a “negotiated solution” following his phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Sunday.

Wadephul said in a post on X that Germany and the U.S. “share the same goal: Iran must completely and verifiably renounce nuclear weapons and immediately release the Strait of Hormuz.”

Wadephul’s comments come amid escalating tensions between German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Last week, the U.S. president had announced it was withdrawing approximately 5,000 troops from Germany following criticism from Merz over what the German chancellor called Washington’s lack of a clear strategy to end the Iran war, stating the U.S. was being “humiliated” by Iran in negotiations.

Iran’s Araghchi also spoke with his Omani counterpart in a separate phone call on Sunday.

In a post on X Sunday, the Iranian government said Araghchi spoke to Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi about “regional developments, briefing him on Iran’s latest diplomatic efforts to end the war and reduce U.S.-Israeli tensions.”

The Omani foreign minister oversaw previous rounds of talks between the U.S. and Iran before the war.

Israel issues evacuation warning in southern Lebanon

Israel’s military issued new evacuation warnings Sunday morning in southern Lebanon for villages, despite a ceasefire with Lebanon intended to halt fighting with Iran-backed Hezbollah.

The warning covers more than 10 villages and towns, according to AFP, and includes several in the district of Nabatieh, which lies north of the Litani River. Israel has stationed troops south of the river.

The Israel Defense Forces told residents to evacuate their homes immediately and to stay at least one kilomentre away of the villages and towns.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry updated the death toll figures Sunday, stating at least 2,679 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon since March 2, CNN reported.

Several projectiles and explosive drones launched by Hezbollah were identified and fell near the area where Israeli troops were stationed, the Jerusalem Post reported.
