After their initially impressive 4-2 win over Croatia, expectations were lowered in the England camp ever so slightly after yesterday's 0-0 stalemate with Ghana

The Three Lions ultimately failed to break down their stubborn and resolute opponents. Meanwhile, Harry Kane was left to rue the game's best chance in the second-half.

"You go through games like that. I was just waiting for an opportunity like that to fall my way," the Bayern Munich star explained in the aftermath of the game.

"It was the kind of game as a striker where you're just waiting for the ball to bounce [in your favour], and it did. I just couldn't quite get over the ball [when shooting].

"I'd back myself to score that more often than not. It is what it is. I've been a striker long enough to know they don't always go in, so I have to accept it," Kane added.

Much to the 32-year-old's relief, the missed opportunity won't haunt him for long. England can still top the group with a win over already eliminated Panama next Saturday.
