Meryl Streep’s estranged husband, Don Gummer, is reportedly “at peace” with the actress and Martin Short’s romance.
The sculptor’s “perspective has changed” since “so much time has passed since they stopped being a couple,” a source told the Daily Mail on Thursday.
The exes, notably, separated in 2017 after 45 years of marriage and four children together.
“If this relationship with Martin had started immediately after the split, it’s something [Gummer] probably never would have gotten over,” the outlet claimed, insisting this “would have hit [him] hard.”
The insider alleged that “enough time has passed now that he’s genuinely at peace with it” — and has “come to terms with the end of his marriage.”
The artist, 79, and Streep, 76, have reportedly “‘reached a place of mutual respect, which definitely didn’t happen overnight.”
Streep’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Gummer and the Oscar winner kept their breakup under wraps for years, with Page Six confirming the split in 2023.
At the time, the duo’s rep told us, “While they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart.”
Speculation began swirling around the “Sophie’s Choice” star and Short, also 76, in early 2024.
The actor’s rep, however, claimed the co-stars were “just very good friends, nothing more.”
Short doubled down during Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast later the same month, telling listeners, “We are not a couple.”
Meanwhile, he and Streep continued to make outings, from grabbing dinner to seeing Broadway shows — and they held hands at the “OMITB” Season 4 premiere in August 2024.
Their fellow cast member Steve Martin only fueled rumors with a pointed social media post hinting he was Streep and Short’s third wheel.
By March 2025, multiple sources had confirmed to Page Six that the duo had been dating “for well over a year.”
One insider claimed the “unexpected” romance took them “completely by surprise,” saying, “Meryl couldn’t help but fall for Martin. He is a gentleman, he keeps her laughing and is an all-around positive person. She loves being around him.”
We confirmed their “friends and family, including their kids, absolutely approve of their relationship and think they’re adorable together.”
Earlier this week, Short and Streep proved their romance is still going strong with a cozy London date night, dubbed “tender” by an eyewitness.
