During the first weekend of Coachella, Heidi Klum started from a place that seemed to align with what is normally seen at the festival.
On Friday, April 10, on the first day, the model wore a relaxed look: unbuttoned trousers, bodysuit, cap, white sneakers and dark glasses. A combination that fit the aesthetics of the event, without the need to go further.
But the next day, Saturday, April 11, the conversation changed.
Klum appeared with a completely different look: brown bodysuit, asymmetric dress, cowboy-style boots, fishnet tights, dark glasses and black lipstick. An image that was more marked and further away from the usual reference that is had of her, accustomed to dresses, whether long or short, more classic or more daring, and that in this case ended up making her look almost unrecognizable within the festival.
From that moment on, she was in the spotlight.
Not only within the event, but also on social networks, her appearance began to circulate rapidly, becoming one of the most talked about looks of the weekend.
That's where the so-called "Techno Hexen" look began to take shape, the same one that ended up defining her time at Coachella.
And not so much because of what she was wearing, but because of how it began to be read.
At Coachella, the outfits always stand out. That's nothing new. What did change was the point from which this particular one was viewed. Not only as an aesthetic choice, but as a decision that did not seem to seek to fit in with the expected.
At 52, Klum did not appear from a restrained version nor from the idea of conforming to what is often assumed for that stage.
And that's what started to weigh on me.
Because the contrast between the two days speaks not only of style, but of something broader. Of the possibility of moving between different versions without having to respond to a single way of seeing or presenting oneself.
That's where the conversation stops being just about fashion.
Because what could remain in a look that steals glances, ends up opening another reading: that of a figure that does not respond to the rules that are often repeated around age.
