“He will announce what happens next soon” – Former Bayern and Real Madrid star Alaba set to decide future

David Alaba's father and agent has confirmed that the former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid defender is expected to announce his next career move soon.

After his Real Madrid contract expired at the end of June, David Alaba is available as a free agent and yet to announce his next move.

The 34-year-old former Bayern Munich defender has most recently been linked with 1. FC Union Berlin and Mexican record champions Club América.

His father and agent, George Alaba, has now confirmed that a decision is near, without mentioning any names.

“There have been numerous enquiries. From the USA, from Europe, everywhere,” George Alaba told Kronen Zeitung.

“He will announce what happens next soon. He is doing extremely well,” Alaba’s father added.

Retirement is not an option for the 34-year-old, his father underlined.

“It will continue, I know that. He will carry on,” he said.

Asked about a possible return to Alaba’s youth club, Austria Vienna, his father said the time for that has not yet come.

“David has received calls. They want him, and he wants it too, but at the moment it is a little too early for him. He still has a lot planned when it comes to football.”
