After it was reported earlier this month that Marvin Friedrich’s expiring contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach will not be extended beyond the summer, it now appears a decision has been made regarding the 30-year-old’s next destination.

According to Sky Germany, the centre-back will join 1. FC Union Berlin at the end of the season.

The report claims that a contract running until 2028 with an option for an additional year has already been signed.

Friedrich was previously contracted to Union from January 2018 until January 2022, when he made the move to Gladbach.

This season, he has featured for just 149 minutes across seven appearances for the Foals.
