Jujutsu Kaisen is looking towards its final chapter that would conclude a story that has been ongoing for over half a decade. The impact Gege Akutami had on the entire world could not be taken lightly no matter the state of the manga in its current days. While it may not be perfect, it is nowhere near as deserving of the hatred many put it through. After over 270 chapters, the series remains to be among the top most popular television shows in general and more so in the world of anime.

It was recently revealed that following the ending of the manga, a “happy announcement” was something fans could look forward to. As shared via X, the editor of Jujutsu Kaisen confirmed that while the original manga may be ending, “there is still more to come.” It wouldn’t be wrong to assume spinoffs could be in the works. As such, here are five prequel ideas that would make every fan happy.

The Life of Toji Fushiguro

Toji Fushiguro is singlehandedly responsible for completely turning the events of Jujutsu Kaisen around and the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc proved that. His time before meeting Gojo has always been a mystery but also alluded to many times. Whether it was with his two wives or as an assassin, he was a character who witnessed multiple tragedies.

Moreover, he was shunned from the Zenin clan, becoming an outcast like Maki. Exploring these areas in a prequel centering around him could really give more insight into his character.

Sukuna in the Heian Era

Sukuna is a character who has seen millennia worth of changes in the world. He has seen hardships one after the other with his reigning terror during the Heian era. He was a sorcerer who was never loved. An outcast among those who simply could not understand him. While at the same time, Ryomen Sukuna was a sadistic man causing terror in his wake.

On multiple occasions, his time in the Heian era has been talked about but it was never properly shown. Akutami has the perfect opportunity to showcase just how terrifying the antagonist always has been.

Cursed Wombs: The Origins of the Death Paintings

The Cursed Wombs were introduced to Jujutsu Kaisen fans as nine cursed objects that were fused with the blood of humans and cursed spirits. The entire existence of the nine children and the gruesome treatment Noritoshi Kamo put them through had been erased in time. With only Eso, Choso, and Kechizu classifying as special grades, understanding what happened to their mother and how they came to be could be an interesting mystery to uncover.

Kashimo: The God of Lightening

Kashimo’s story holds immense potential. As someone referred to as the God of Lightening, there is an element of intrigue to him that keeps his own origin story under wraps. For someone who was a sorcerer from 4 centuries ago, how he became someone of so much power is something Gege Akutami could definitely look into.

He was someone who sought to fight battles that gave him more and more of a challenge. He was an antagonist who changed his allegiances as time went on. His morality becomes all over the place. However, his power is strong enough to make fans wonder how he got it in the first place.

Gojo and Megumi’s Past

Megumi and Gojo had always been shown to have a special relationship, with the latter having practically raised Toji Fushiguro’s son. During the end of the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc, fans come to learn that it was Toji who directed Gojo towards Megumi, who then took the kid under his wing. Their relationship easily qualifies as that of a son and his father. What Megumi was put through by Sukuna was devastating; one by one, targeting his family, starting with Tsumiki and then Gojo himself.

Fans could see him break but no one knows with concrete proof just how impactful they were in each other’s lives. Were there to be a prequel focusing on their relationship, it could make the entire battle between Sukuna and Gojo even more meaningful.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
