Every Confirmed Amazon MGM Announcement at CinemaCon 2026

Amazon MGM Studios presented their slate of movies for the next couple of years during their appearance at CinemaCon. They revealed release dates, other details, and footage/trailers of the movie to the executives present at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.

Mike Hopkins, the head of the studio, appeared before the audience and thanked them for the $525 million box office success of Project Hail Mary. Ryan Gosling was also present on the stage, and the studio head shared that the exclusive theatrical window for the movie has been extended owing to its success.

From soon-to-be-released movies like Masters of the Universe and The Thomas Crown Affair to movies in production like Highlander, the Amazon MGM Studio presentation featured a wide range of exciting movies. Here are all the movies announced by the studio at CinemaCon.

1 Masters of the Universe

The trailer of Masters of the Universe had already promised a colorful aesthetic for the movie that would satisfy fans of the original cartoon series. The new footage shown at CinemaCon adds more color to it, while suggesting impressive action work.

The footage begins with Nicholas Galitzine‘s character in the back of a police car. He witnesses Beast Man tearing up the road ahead of him and tries to get his sword to fight the monster. While he grabs his sword, he gets help from Camilla Mendes’s Teela, who recognizes him as the prince of Eternia.

She takes him back to his people, where everyone is shown to be rallying behind him to defeat Skeletor. Jared Leto’s villain is inspired by the classic version of the character. The clip then cuts to several action sequences, introducing He-Man’s team: Battle Cat, Man at Arms, and Roboto.

The footage ends with an action scene, where He-Man fights Skeletor’s men inside the throne room, before having a go at the purple-hooded villain. Despite the backlashes over the years, Amazon MGM has a lot of expectations for this live-action movie, and the footage lives up to those expectations. Masters of the Universe will be released in theaters on June 5, 2026.

2 The Thomas Crown Affair

Michael B. Jordan‘s new age adaptation of The Thomas Crown Affair was another highlight of the Amazon MGM presentation at CinemaCon. The presentation itself was a musical performance, with composer Jon Batiste performing a number on his piano on stage.

The footage of the movie at the event suggests that Jordan might just live up to Steve McQueen and Pierce Brosnan’s versions. In the clip shown, Jordan and Adria Arjona’s (who replaced Taylor Russell as the female lead) characters are having a conversation.

We are introduced to Jordan’s thief Thomas Crown and Arjona’s insurance investigator, who is mentioned to have previously worked with the FBI. The clip then cuts to Kenneth Branagh, who talks about all the art that the thief had stolen. It is suggested that Branagh’s character is Crown’s next target.

The footage then shows several stylish action sequences, which suggests that Jordan one-upped the previous movies and made this new adaptation into a major spectacle for the theaters. The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 5, 2027.

3 The Beekeeper 2

Jason Statham appeared in a video at CinemaCon to introduce the sequel to his 2024 movie, The Beekeeper. The sequel dropped a first trailer for the audience at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, which showed Statham’s badass assassin Adam Clay in action.

The trailer shows Clay on a mission to destroy the Beekeepers organization after learning that the active beekeepers have gone rogue. We also learn by the end of the clip that the beekeepers have kidnapped the President.

The stylish action sequences and visuals promise that this movie is going to be even bigger and more brutal than the first film. As the title suggests, bees have a role in the movie with Statham, even helping Clay to heal his wounds in one scene.

The first movie was directed by David Ayer and received a positive response from critics and the audience. The Beekeeper 2 is helmed by Timo Tjahjanto. It will be released on January 15, 2027.

4 The Sheep Detectives

Hugh Jackman appeared at the Las Vegas stage with co-star Nicholas Braun to discuss his upcoming mystery comedy movie, The Sheep Detectives. Jackman’s character is a shepherd who is found dead mysteriously. His sheep then set out to solve the mystery behind his murder. Jackman shared that the movie will be funny but move you emotionally at the same time. The movie is coming to theaters on May 8, 2026.

5 How to Rob a Bank

David Leitch and Pete Davidson made a dramatic entry with a bunch of stunt bikers in wolf masks to introduce their movie, How to Rob a Bank. A trailer for the movie was shown at the event, where we are introduced to Nicholas Hoult, Anna Sawai, and Pete Davidson’s characters.

They rob banks and post their crimes online. They give away their money to charity, making them kind of modern-day Robin Hood-like figures. John C. Reilly’s FBI agent is after the wolf pack and seeks help from a hacker, played by Zoë Kravitz. She also happens to be an ex-girlfriend of Hoult’s character.

The team has the support of the crowd, who celebrate them for defying the existing power structures. David Leitch is a brilliant action film director, so fans can expect a lot of visually brilliant action choreography in the movie. It is set to be released on September 4, 2026.

6 I Play Rocky

Director Peter Farrelly and the cast of I Play Rocky, including star Anthony Ippolito, appeared at the CinemaCon stage to introduce their new movie. The movie goes behind the scenes of how the 1976 Sylvester Stallone classic Rocky was made. Ippolito plays a younger version of Stallone.

A trailer was shown to the audience, which showed how Stallone met with the studio heads and convinced them to give him the lead role in his script. It also showed the bidding war for the rights to the script. The movie tells a familiar but legendary story that we have often heard from Stallone and others involved in the original movie.

A 2026 release for Farrelly’s movie is perfect as the original movie celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The movie will be out on November 13, 2026.

7 Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother

Director Bassam Tariq and Mahershala Ali, a pair who were once attached to Marvel’s Blade movie, appeared at CinemaCon to promote their new movie Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. The duo revealed that the plot of the movie is about a hitman who is also a father and wants to protect his community.

Ali shared that he was looking for something more physical, and this action thriller was exactly the movie he wanted to make. A footage from the movie shows Ali dealing with grief over a major loss and refusing to pray at a mosque. We see his home life with his daughters, his day job selling perfumes, and his secret life wearing a face mask.

The footage also introduces the cowboy villain of the movie, played by John Cho. The movie has a very dark tone, making it feel like Tariq and Ali have created a version of Blade that they were unable to make before. A release date for this movie was not announced at the event.

8 Verity

This psychological thriller, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestseller, will star Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway. The movie released a trailer at CinemaCon that teased an unsettling story about a struggling writer uncovering dark secrets about the haunted Crawford home.

The footage shows Johnson’s Lowen arriving at the Crawford home and meeting Hathaway’s Verity, who is in an incapacitated condition. Lowen intends to take over the writing process of Verity’s latest book in her best-selling novel series. Josh Hartnett plays Jeremy Crawford, Verity’s husband. Verity is scheduled to be released on October 2, 2026.

9 Spaceballs: The New One

A parody film announcement made everyone so excited at CinemaCon. 1987’s Spaceballs made fun of the many space opera and sci-fi movies of the time, including Star Wars, Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Transformers. The plans for a sequel began a decade ago, and Amazon MGM first announced the movie in June 2024.

The audience at Caesar’s Palace got an official title and a glimpse of the sequel, which will be called Spaceballs: The New One. A sizzle reel started with Dark Helmet’s helmet buried in the sand. Then we get a sequence that talks about why it took so long for a Spaceballs sequel to happen.

It was followed by a bunch of crazy sequences, including a Harry Potter parody scene, a Rey and Finn parody, and even a Na’vi from James Cameron’s Avatar appears in the movie. Rick Moranis, Mel Brooks, and Bill Pullman return as Dark Helmet, Yogurt, and Lone Starr. Pullman’s real-life son Lewis Pullman plays Starburst, the son of Lone Starr and Queen Vespa.

The movie is written by Josh Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez, with Josh Greenbaum taking the helm as director. Greenbaum, Gad, Moranis, Daphne Zuniga, and the Pullmans appeared on stage for a fun-filled introduction of the movie. It will be released in theaters on April 23, 2027.

10 A Colt is My Passport

Gareth Evans is remaking Takeshi Nomura’s 1967 classic A Colt is My Passport for modern-day audiences. Amazon MGM showcased a trailer for the movie that sees Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù play a hitman. Dìrísù and Evans are collaborators on the acclaimed Sky Atlantic series Gangs of London.

The trailer footage begins with the hitman completing a hit. Instead of paying him, his boss sends other hitmen after him. Jack Reynor plays one of the lead hitmen on the hunt for Dìrísù’s character. The movie will bring Evans’ signature visuals, actions, and brutality onto the screen. The movie is set to be released in 2027.

11 Highlander

Henry Cavill‘s Highlander was another much-anticipated movie that Amazon MGM teased at CinemaCon. While we didn’t get an official release date, we got to see some pretty heavy action from Henry Cavill that closely resembled Keanu Reeves’s John Wick. The movie is being helmed by Chad Stahelski, who directed the John Wick movies.

The production of the movie is still underway, which explains Cavill’s absence from the event. However, a message from Cavill introduced the footage from the movie. We see shots of Cavill walking into a church, as his character explains his backstory. We see some clips of sword fights, before the clip introduces Dave Bautista’s villain, Kurgan.

In one of the clips, Kurgan is dressed as a Nazi and fights Connor McLeod in World War II. In another, the villain says, “When my sword changes history, you’ll have a front row seat!” We also see Russell Crowe’s Ramirez in a scene. Cavill notably maintains his character’s Scottish accent. We will only get to know more about the plot and other details once the movie wraps production.

Other Updates from Amazon MGM Studios

The studio also showcased Is God Is, which is being directed by debutant Aleshea Harris. It is based on the 2018 play of the same name and stars Kara Young, Mallori Johnson, Janelle Monáe, Vivica A. Fox, and Sterling K. Brown. Nicolas Cage’s Madden will be a streaming release. Cage plays real-life football coach John Madden in the David O. Russell-directed movie.

The biggest disappointment was the lack of any significant update on the new James Bond movie. Amazon’s head of film, Courtenay Valenti, told CinemaCon attendees that the studio was taking time with the casting process to do it “with care and deep respect.” She shared, “It is the dream of a lifetime for all of us to bring audiences this next chapter, and it’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.”

The studio also made the commitment at the event to release at least 15 movies in the theater in a year.
