Dortmund close in on signing 15-year-old Croatian prodigy

BVB have supposedly fended off rival interest from clubs within the Bundesliga and Italy.

Borussia Dortmund have finalized the signing of Liam Claude Kanté, according to local and often reliable source Ruhr Nachrichten.

The talented central defender looks set to move from Croatian club NK Lokomotiva Zagreb to Strobelallee this summer.

In Dortmund, Kanté will initially be introduced to his new environment via the U-19 team, but the Croatian U-15 international is highly rated.

Kanté, still only a 15-year-old is considered capable of making the jump to the professional ranks in the long term.

In the race to sign the defensive talent, Borussia Dortmund prevailed against renowned competition in the Bundesliga and abroad. 

Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, TSG Hoffenheim, and some unnamed clubs from Italy were also believed to be courting him.

Kanté's decision to join the Black and Yellows is said to linked to the career plan presented to him by the club's management.
