Donald Trump has nothing but love and respect for the late Jimmy Carter despite the former POTUS' last wish.
The president-elect hailed the former president as an icon and a leader who worked hard to enrich Americans' lives during his reign. He praised the late politician and held no grudge against him for voting for Kamala Harris in the elections.
Before taking his final breath on December 29, Jimmy Carter revealed his last wish was to vote for the VP and ensure Donald Trump was not re-elected. Although his desire was not fulfilled, he died after beating the hospice odds at the incredible age of 100.

Fans Have Mixed Feelings About Trump's Tribute
The president-elect's touching statement sparked mixed reactions on X, with some hailing his respect for Carter while others saw it as a publicity stunt. Trump's critics did not hold back, with someone implying the credit should go to his PR team, claiming:
"Somebody wrote it for him. He can't put sentences together."
"Stop normalizing this pos. Carter couldn't stand him either and stayed alive long enough to vote against him," a displeased fan argued. A third echoed similar sentiments, noting Trump was Carter's "opposite in every way imaginable."

President Carter Dies Over A Year After Entering Hospice Care
On Sunday, The Blast reported the former POTUS had passed on to join his late wife, Rosalynn Carter. His son, James E. Carter III, confirmed the news, revealing he had died in his home in the Plains, GA.
The politician’s death comes over a year after entering hospice care in February 2023. At the time, the Carter Center explained that he had chosen hospice care because he wanted to "spend his remaining time at home with his family."
While many suspected he would pass on shortly after choosing hospice care, the ex-president outlived these expectations of his death. However, his grandson, Jason Carter, revealed in June that he was barely conscious, and they could not predict what state he would be found in whenever they visited.
A Part Of Carter Died With His Late Wife
While reflecting on his grandfather's health, Jason shared that he was experiencing the world as best as he could then. He noted that there had been little to no change in his overall well-being, believing a part of the former POTUS had died with his longtime wife.
"After 77 years of marriage… I just think none of us really understand what it's like for him right now.We have to embrace that fact that there's things about the spirit that you just can't understand," Jason said
The doting grandson credited the memories the couple shared with his grandfather's choosing to embrace his hospice care journey in the same Plains home he and his late wife built in 1961. That's his home in every way, and he really cherished that time and that support," Jason claimed.

Jimmy Carter Fulfilled His Last Wish To Vote Against Donald Trump
Two months before his death, The Blast reported that Carter had fulfilled his final wish by voting in what eventually became his last presidential election. His son confirmed the news, revealing that the humanitarian had cast a ballot for Harris on Wednesday, October 16.
Chip Carter noted that his wife, Becky, had delivered the absentee ballot to the Sumter County Courthouse in a drop box on behalf of the former President. He said Harris was the obvious choice for his father, as he would never vote for Trump.
"He's never voted for a Republican in his life," Chip declared. The late politician's grandson echoed similar sentiments at the Democratic National Convention earlier this year, claiming:
"Kamala Harris carries my grandfather's legacy. She knows what is right, and she fights for it."
Could Jimmy Carter have changed his mind about Donald Trump if he lived to see his new reign?
