Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill detained before game

Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was detained by police before Miami’s season opener against the Jaguars on Sunday, his agent confirmed to ESPN.

Hill was detained for a traffic violation. But he was released and will still play Sunday.

The team confirmed the incident and said several other players witnessed the incident.

Steelers unsure which QB will start

The Steelers signed veteran QB Russell Wilson this offseason from Denver but he's listed as questionable with a calf injury.

“I am sure we will see on Sunday,” Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said Friday. “Russ is pretty resilient when it comes to those things. He’s been that way throughout his career. Like I’ve said, we’ve prepared for all of their stuff and all the avenues. We’ll be ready for how it goes.”

If Wilson is unable to suit up, former Bears QB Justin Fields could get the start. The speedy Fields rushed for 657 yards last season, which could present problems for the Falcons' defense on Sunday.

Questions surrounding Cincinnati's offense

The Bengals, when healthy, boast one of the best offenses in the NFL. The problem is we're not so sure they are 100%.

QB Joe Burrow, one of the rising stars in the NFL, suffered a season-ending wrist injury last season. How much, if at all, will that affect his play in 2024?

His best friend and star WR Ja'Marr Chase is the other question. He didn’t practice at all this offseason while seeking a new contract. His status for Week 1 against the Patriots is “day-to-day” the Bengals.

NBC News

The NFL is letting players wear guardian caps, an extra protective cover over helmets, to keep players heads safer. The padding slips over the helmet to soften impacts by up to 33% according to the manufacturer. NBC News’ Sam Brock details how players are responding.

Did the Bears finally find their QB?

Chicago chose USC star Caleb Williams at No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft and believe he is the savior of a franchise who badly needs one.

Coach Matt Eberflus' future could depend on whether he succeeds or not as a rookie. Chicago was 7-10 last season, its third straight season of missing the playoffs and having a losing record.

“When we took the job… We knew the process was going to be difficult," he said in March. "Now we’re in year 3 and we’re starting to add the talent… we’re in a good spot.”

NBC News

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell speaks exclusively to "TODAY" about the upcoming NFL season and what to expect from the first NFL game being played in South America. He also talks about the new guardian helmets and whether he notices a “Taylor Swift effect” on the game.
