Departing Bayern star linked with Chicago Fire move as Milan interest cools

With a move to AC Milan now looking unlikely for Leon Goretzka, the departing Bayern Munich midfielder could end up in Chicago instead.

While it's clear that Leon Goretzka will leave Bayern Munich at the end of his contract this summer, it remains unclear what the 31-year-old's next destination will be.

A move to Serie A initially looked on the cards but now appears unlikely, with Sport Bild reporting that talks with AC Milan have been put on hold following a change in management at the Italian club.

A potential option has now emerged in the United States, according to Sport Bild, who claims that Chicago Fire have shown interest in the central midfielder. However, no concrete talks have taken place so far.

Goretzka is already familiar with the club’s training facilities, having prepared for the World Cup there with the German national team two weeks ago.

Former Bayern Munich teammate Robert Lewandowski has also been linked with a move to Chicago Fire.

The MLS club previously had retired German internationals Bastian Schweinsteiger and Arne Friedrich on their books.
