Demichelis identifies Portuguese international as key RB Leipzig target

Martín Demichelis reportedly wants to bring Samú Costa with him from Mallorca to RB Leipzig.

After recently being confirmed as RB Leipzig’s new head coach, Martín Demichelis is looking to bring one of his former players with him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Demichelis is pushing to sign Samú Costa from his former club RCD Mallorca.

The defensive midfielder, who is part of Portugal’s World Cup squad but has yet to feature in North America, is under contract until 2028.

Samú Costa, 25, scored seven goals and provided two assists in 36 appearances for Mallorca last season.

He joined the club from UD Almería in 2023 for a fee of around €3 million.
