Demi Moore shares how she’s coping with ‘stable’ ex Bruce Willis’ dementia

Demi Moore has learned to embrace the “beauty” of Bruce Willis’ dementia battle.

The “Substance” star shared how she is coping with her ex-husband’s illness while accepting the award for career achievement in acting at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival on Sunday.

“I’ve said this before: The disease is what the disease is, and I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is,” she told the audience (per People). “But for where he’s at, he is stable.”

Moore, 61, explained that she has had to let go of what the “Die Hard” actor, 69, used to be like and come to terms with their new normal.

“What I always encourage is to just meet them where they’re at,” she said. “When you’re holding on to what was, I think it’s a losing game. But when you show up to meet them where they’re at, there is great beauty and sweetness.”

The actress noted that she feels grateful to be able to spend time with Willis “however long we have it.”

Moore revealed that she and the “Armageddon” star — who have maintained a close relationship since their divorce — recently spent time together with their 36-year-old daughter, Rumer Willis, and their granddaughter, Louetta, whom the “House Bunny” actress welcomed in April 2023.

The former couple, who were married from 1987 to 2000, also share daughters Scout Willis, 33, and Tallulah Willis, 30.

Bruce went on to wed Emma Heming in 2009. They share two daughters: Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10.

The “Pulp Fiction” actor’s family revealed in February 2023 that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

“While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,” they said at the time.

“FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone,” the statement continued.

“For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know.”

The family noted that there is no known cure or treatment for the “debilitating disease.”

Bruce’s dementia reveal came nearly a year after he retired from acting due to a previous diagnosis with aphasia, which can alter a person’s ability to speak, write and understand language.
