Capcom’s current-gen version of Dead Rising is finally in the hands of players, bringing its unique take on the survival-horror genre to a new generation of players who may have missed out on the original 2006 release.
However, taking on the role of Frank West, a journalist investigating the murky origins of a zombie infestation in the Willamette Parkview Mall, can be a challenge to new players who are unfamiliar with the unique mechanics that Capcom introduced to the game.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Can Be Difficult to Figure Out Sometimes
Your first time playing through Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster can get tricky considering that Frank has only 72 hours to complete his investigation and the game counting down those hours almost constantly.
There is a lot that the game does not tell you, leaving its players to discover many of its secrets through exploring the mall and taking on zombies and Psychopaths along the way.
One of the most important things to keep track of as you make your way through the mall is the durability of your weapons. Considering how well-placed many of the game’s combat encounters are, you certainly don’t want to run into a horde of enemies only for your weapon to break mid-combo.
It’s also important to use the environment to your advantage, as there are many ways to improve your stats by performing specific actions in the game. For instance, heating a frying pan on a stove increases its damage while unlocking a special move that’s otherwise unavailable to use in combat.
Remembering to strike a balance between Case Files and Scoops is also important, with the former required to progress the game’s story while the latter encompasses all of its side missions. This lets you collect important items and powerful gear while also ensuring that you get to see as much of the game as possible in your first run.
Getting the Most Out of Frank’s Adventure

While there are several powerful weapons that Frank can pick up as he explores the Mall, Dead Rising features collectibles that can improve their damage and durability. Keep an eye out for any books that Frank can collect, as they often have this effect.
Weapons also respawn once they are broken at the location where Frank first collected them, making it practical to backtrack from time to time in order to ensure you are well-equipped for the challenges ahead.
Another important aspect of the game to watch out for is Survivors. These NPCs must be found and rescued during your playthrough and unlock new story beats and Scoops for Frank while also granting a lot of rewards.
It’s important to note that there can only be eight Survivors in the Mall at any given time, making it necessary to rescue them as and when you can in order to ensure that new ones crop up as you progress through the game. Making them a priority ensures that you have access to new Scoops and the rewards that come with them.
Last but not least, remember that as a photojournalist, Frank can rack up a lot of Prestige Points (PP) by clicking photos of specific in-game occurrences such as zombies, gory kills, funny events, and the like.
