David Harbour is speaking out after his ex-wife Lily Allen claimed he cheated during their marriage.

The accusations came out in the form of song — several songs, actually — on Allen’s 14-track album “West End Girl,” which was released last October.
The timing was particularly awkward given Harbour was on the verge of promoting the final season of Stranger Things, forcing him to publicly deal with their split.
Or avoid dealing with it, as it went.
“It was weird,” Harbour said of Allen’s album in an interview with Variety published on Wednesday.
“I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.”
He continued: “I can’t really say that much more because it’s my private life. In spite of the fact that a lot of people don’t allow me a private life — I value it. And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately. I just won’t speak about that.”
When asked if he wanted to directly address any of his ex-wife’s claims on the album, Harbour stuck to his guns.

“Stories are complex,” he replied. “And that’s why I say I respect her creation of art to channel her experience. It wasn’t my experience.”
When and why did they split?
Allen and Harbour met in 2019 and married a year later in a Las Vegas ceremony.
By February 2025, People reported their breakup, with one source telling the outlet that the British songstress was “devastated and not in a good place,” noting that their “marriage has been crumbling.”
Allen doesn’t explicitly name the Thunderbolts star in “West End Girl,” but appears to reference the end of their four-year marriage, calling a former partner a “sex addict” who led a “double life” and “went astray” from the relationship.

According to the album, the two were in an open marriage, but the “Smile” singer claimed Harbour violated the agreement he proposed (he was only to see sex workers), alleging he kept a separate apartment for extramarital affairs.
Allen defended the album, saying it is neither “cruel” nor “mean,” but was inspired by what went on in her relationship.
She also insisted that her lyrics weren’t wholly autobiographical, telling Interview, “Some of it is based on truth and some of it is fantasy.”
She added, “It’s not a cruel album. I don’t feel like I’m being mean. It was just the feelings I was processing at the time.”
