The Ottawa Police Service say a 38-year-old man was transported to the hospital Wednesday Aug. 26, following a cyclist-vehicle collision on Laurier Avenue near Bay Street.

In an email, police said they responded to a collision between a Toyota Camry and a cyclist just before 8:30 a.m.

“The cyclist was transported to hospital with minor injuries,” police said.

Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps said the man was in stable condition when he was transported to hospital.

According to the Ottawa Police Service’s Traffic and Road Safety Overview snapshot, cyclists were involved in 106 of 12,690 total officer-attended collisions between Jan. 1 and Aug. 15, 2026, representing a 15-per-cent decrease from 124 during the same period in 2025.

Overall, 17 collisions have resulted in fatalities. Police did not indicate how many of those involved cyclists.

For all of 2025, there were three cyclist deaths among the 22 officer-attended collisions that resulted in fatal injuries. There were 20,650 collisions overall.
