1. FC Union Berlin (0-1-1, 15th) play host to FC Schalke 04 (0-1-1, 14th) at Stadion An der Alten Försterei in the third matchweek of the 2026/27 Bundesliga season.

Both sides go into this match with a point, but looking to climb out of the bottom half of the table in the early part of the season. Union drew Eintracht Frankfurt 3-3 after a late comeback, but lost to Bayer 04 Leverkusen by an 0-4 result last weekend; Schalke lost to FC Augsburg, 0-3 in their opener, but drew reigning German champions FC Bayern München 0-0 in the Topspiel this past Saturday.

Since Union promoted to the German top-flight for the first time in the 2019/20 season, they have met with Schalke on six occasions, with a 1-4-1 record. Schalke’s lone win (2-1) came in their first meeting in that 2019/20 campaign, whereas Union’s was a 6-1 victory in the 2022/23 season; the two teams have not met since Schalke’s subsequent relegation to the second division.
