Cat ladies unite: Linda Ronstadt lashes out at Donald Trump, joins Taylor Swift in support of Kamala Harris

As Donald Trump geared up for a campaign event at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall in Tucson, the venue's namesake, Linda Ronstadt, openly criticized the former president, citing his "toxic politics" and calling him a "rapist."

Ronstadt calls Trump a "rapist"

The legendary singer took to social media hours before Trump's rally, expressing her displeasure at the event taking place in her hometown and at a venue named after her.

"I would prefer to ignore that sad fact. But since the building has my name on it, I need to say something,"Ronstadt wrote, referring to the upcoming rally.

In her post, the singer condemned Trump's divisive rhetoric, saying, "It saddens me to see the former President bring his hate show to Tucson, a town with deep Mexican-American roots and a joyful, tolerant spirit."

Ronstadt, known for her Mexican heritage and ties to the Tucson community, didn't hold back in her criticism of Trump's policies, particularly those affecting immigrants.

She highlighted the heartbreak caused by his administration's family separation policy at the U.S. southern border, which, in her words, "made orphans of thousands of little children and babies, and brutalized their desperate mothers and fathers."

In a pointed remark, Ronstadt addressed Trump's infamous rhetoric from his 2016 campaign.

"Trump first ran for president warning about rapists coming in from Mexico. I'm worried about keeping the rapist out of the White House," she wrote, referencing Trump's derogatory comments about immigrants and his recent legal battles involving sexual abuse accusations.

In 2023, a New York jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll, a case that has continued to make headlines as Trump denies the allegations.

Ronstadt also voiced her support for Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, both of whom have garnered endorsements from various public figures, including pop sensation Taylor Swift.

"This cat lady will be voting proudly in November for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz," Ronstadt announced, making light of Trump's vice presidential pick J.D. Vance's controversial remarks about "childless cat ladies."

Following a televised debate earlier this week, Swift referred to Harris as a "steady-handed, gifted leader" and urged Americans to choose leaders who embody calm over chaos.

Ronstadt's comments have amplified ongoing discussions surrounding Trump's political influence and the resistance from prominent figures in the arts and entertainment world.
