Officers were looking for a teenage suspect after the noon-hour shooting at Agincourt Collegiate Institute on Midland Ave., just north of Sheppard Ave. E.

“It is quite concerning. Whenever senseless incidents of violence take place on school property it is concerning not only to the families but also to the police as well,” said Insp. Richard Harris, according to CP24.

“But I do want to let the public know that we will not stop and the fine members of the (Integrated) Gun and Gang Task Force and the centralized shooting team are well underway with the investigation of this.”

The suspect was described as a Black male, 17 to 18 years of age, and wearing a blue “Nike” sweater with multiple zippers, and dark pants.

Officers said upon arriving, they found a boy who had been shot and he was taken to hospital with injuries that were considered non-life-threatening. The incident happened in the east end of the school’s parking lot near Glen Watford Dr.

Toronto District School Board spokesman Ryan Bird says the board will have social workers at the school to support students and staff for as long as needed.

“We are just very thankful that this was not a more serious injury, and our thoughts are with the victim and his family right now,” said Bird.

Police ask anyone with information to contact them or to call Crime Stoppers.
