Blake Lively and It Ends With Us

SUMMARY

  • Blake Lively aims to shut down a nasty reputation of her being hard to work with by collaborating with her former co-star, Anna Kendrick from A Simple Favor.
  • Rumors regarding Lively butting heads with her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni surfaced around the movie's release.
  • Ryan Reynolds plans on buying Baldoni's share in the franchise to let his wife work on it by herself.

Despite being known as one of Hollywood’s biggest heartthrobs and the loving wife of Ryan Reynolds, who was once dubbed as one of the sexiest men alive, Blake Lively has had a weird reputation for being hard to work with on set. Things like this happen quite often in the movie industry and it often tends to portray an image that isn’t necessarily how one would want to be viewed by the world.

Lively’s most recent work was on the set of It Ends With Us, a movie inspired by a romance novel written by Colleen Hoover. Directed by Justin Baldoni, the 2024 release earned a fairly mediocre response from viewers, unlike the book which sold over a million copies worldwide.

Around the time the movie was set to come out, rumors regarding Lively and Baldoni’s fuzzy relationship surfaced on the internet, and the 37-year-old’s “mean girl” tag came back to haunt her from the past. Things haven’t gotten so out of hand that Baldoni’s future in the franchise hangs in balance.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s relationship brings a question mark on the director’s future with the franchise

Rumors regarding their feud began flaring up when Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni weren’t spotted together at the film’s premiere in New York City on August 6, 2024. However, Lively was spotted in front of the cameras with Brandon Sklenar, who acted as Atlas Corrigan in It Ends With Us.

According to Life & Style Magazine, Baldoni hinted that he has little to no interest in returning to the franchise. He apparently told Entertainment Tonight,

I think there are better people for that one… I think Blake Lively’s ready to direct. That’s what I think.

A source recently spoke to Life & Style Magazine claiming that Sony aims to help Lively and Baldoni reach a common ground to continue working together on the set of the It Ends With Us sequel, which has been given an 18-month window before beginning production.

The source also mentioned that Lively husband, Ryan Reynolds, popularly known for his role as Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is considering buying out Baldoni’s share in the It Ends With Us franchise to allow her to continue working without him. But Lively is banking on another co-star of hers to prove that the “mean girl” tag doesn’t exist anymore.

Blake Lively is relying on Anna Kendrick to help get rid of the mean girl tag

In 2018, Blake Lively worked on set with Pitch Perfect star, Anna Kendrick. The two worked together on the set of A Simple Favor, a psychological thriller based on the disappearance of Emily Nelson (Blake Lively), and a mom-blogger who takes it upon herself to unravel the mystery behind it.

Life & Style Magazine mentioned that Kendrick and Lively butted heads on the set of A Simple Favor. However, they revealed that the two have planned to “put aside their personality differences” to work on the movie’s sequel.

The source that touched upon Lively and Baldoni’s feud claimed that the actress intends on returning to movies only when they’re “great business propositions”. It also makes sense why Lively is willing to put all her differences aside to work on a sequel for A Simple Favor with Kendrick since it was a massive hit.

But all signs lead to Justin Baldoni possibly exiting the scene to allow Blake Lively to take over the franchise and bask in the success of it in the future. So far, there haven’t been any updates on a sequel for It Ends With Us, but it will most likely be based on Hoover’s It Starts With Us, the follow-up to the initial book.

It Ends With Us can be rented on Amazon Prime Video.
