Berserk’s Unfortunate Incident has Already Warned Fans Not to Trust Studio Eclypse with Dream Projects

If you are a fan of dark fantasy series, then chances are high that you have come across Berserk, which has left an indelible mark on the genre for being so mature and credible. While the manga has gained an unparalleled status that no other title can come close to, the same can’t be said for the anime, as it has taken a serious hit in popularity as it has gone on a hiatus long enough for anyone to remember.

A ray of hope was given to fans by Studio Eclypse, a fan studio that has mastered the art of fan projects, and promised the Berserk fandom to finally bring back the anime in an unofficial manner. However, in a tragic twist, the series has been axed and now features another dream project for the otakus.

Studio Eclypse gave Berserk fans delusional assurance after their dream project

Kentaro Miura’s Berserk is arguably the most popular dark fantasy series that has taken the world by surprise as he introduced Guts to the world. The otakus can’t forget and will not leave a chance to laud the character, whom they consider to be one of the greatest protagonists in the history of the anime and manga industry.

As popular as the character and storyline of the title is, fans have demanded an anime adaptation that was true to the source material and closely followed every panel of the manga. Though an adaptation was made in 2016, it failed to recreate the same essence as the original work.

However, back in 2023, fans dared to hope, thanks to Studio Eclypse, an unofficial studio run by fans, who decided to take on the responsibility of animating the Black Swordsman Arc of Berserk. A year later, in 2024, it was announced the fan series did not get authorization from Kentaro Miura‘s team.

A couple of days later, it was announced that the anime adaptation had officially been canceled by Studio Eclypse. The news broke the hearts of the fans, and to add fuel to the fire, the same studio is working on a different project titled Attack on Titan: Requiem.

This work will feature an alternate ending to Hajime Isayama’s AOT, which sparked an outroar in the Otaku community.

Later, in October 2024, they decided to release a public comment, claiming the project was not canceled and had some important news for the dark fantasy series fans on their official X account. Fast forward to 2025, and on the occasion of New Year’s Day, they decided to release the much-anticipated trailer for the fanfiction, announcing the episode’s release date as well.

The fan studio did not stop there, as they left a comment on the trailer, claiming more news is to be expected in the upcoming months of 2025, even urging the fans to look forward to their official announcements.

Studio Eclypse faces the rage of Berserk fans

With the announcement of AOT’s alternate ending, Berserk fans are furious as they have been facing rejection as Studio MAPPA rejected to make the adaptation of the dark fantasy series and work on another film on Attack on Titan.

This caused the fan base to fume, where they voiced out their frustration about how the project got canceled at the last moment on every post that was shared on social media.

Some were so blinded by rage that they even actively hoped that the alternate ending would get bombed with negative reviews on social media. The fans commented,

Sorry, but I doubt this will ever become official. You guys aren't a proper studio, just scattered artists. Anime studios hire freelancers, but rely on full-timers. Plus, Japanese companies are nationalistic and prefer giving IPs to local studios to work on.

Despite the unofficial studio claims on how they will bless the Berserk fans by animating Kentaro Miura’s magnum opus, fans should beware. The community should trust accordingly because this is not the first time they have been given false hopes by the same name.
