Meanwhile, during his recent interview with Today, Eddie Murphy looked back on his incredible journey. After all, it’s been nearly five decades since he has been making people laugh and entertaining them. So, the comedy legend finally addressed his “huge milestone” of reaching 50 years in show business. 

I was 27, the last time I did stand-up, and I’m 64 now. The guy in the leather suit is a grandpa. Actually, it would be funny if I came out in a leather suit now. 

I’m still here. Just to be in this business and just to be going and going for all of these years — all around the world — it’s a unique blessing. To have made it all the way through and with my sanity and spirit intact, that’s what I’m most proud of. 

Murphy said he’s thankful to have stayed in the spotlight for so long while keeping his “sanity and spirit intact”. Not to mention the Beverly Hills Cop star also noted that “2026 is my 50th year in show business”, calling it a “huge milestone”. But even after all these years, he’s still making audiences laugh worldwide.

On the other hand, while Murphy is a comedy superstar, at home, he’s just “Dad”. At least that’s what he mentioned in his new Netflix documentary Being Eddie. The star opened up about fatherhood and mentioned that his biggest joy in life is being a father. “My kids are the center of everything,” he said (via US Weekly). 

Legacy is being a parent, not what I did at work. If you put your kids first, you never ever will make a bad decision. 

The actor/comedian is a proud dad of ten children. His youngest two, Izzy, 9, and Max, 6, are with his wife, Paige Butcher, whom he married in 2024 after more than ten years together. He also has older children from previous relationships, including with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy and singer Mel B.
