Dubbed the Royal Pop, the pocket watch is available in eight colourways, the number of which is a nod to the eight sides and eight screws of the Royal Oak bezel. The recognizable octagonal case, which features eight patents around its construction, remains true in the Swatch iteration.

Crafted from a bioceramic material, the designs tap into the recognizable codes of the AP Royal Oak, which debuted in 1972, and the Swatch Pop watches of the 1980s. In addition to the hue variations, the Royal Pop comes in two styles: a Lépine-style pocket watch, with a winding crown positioned at noon (available in six colours); and a Savonnette-style pocket watch with a winding crown at 3 o’clock and a small seconds subdial located at 6 o’clock (available in only two colours).

The AP x Swatch collaboration marks the third time Swatch has teamed up with a luxury timepiece line. In 2022, Swatch and Omega released the Moonswatch, a design inspired by the luxury Swiss watch (which is part of Swatch groups) brand’s Omega Speedmaster.
