It started with a small rumor that Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, and Tom Holland were going to appear together in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That rumor turned out to be true and now, no one will believe anything that Andrew Garfield says.

It started with a screen test that went okayish for Andrew Garfield. However, when his acting coach gave him advice, Sony announced their new Peter Parker in a film called The Amazing Spider-Man.

In 2012, the world saw Garfield don the iconic Spider-Man suit for the first time and the first film received mixed reviews from the world. The sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 received even worse reviews.

Wanting to compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (which was blooming at that time), Sony announced The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The film was set for a release date in 2016. The plans were on but Andrew Garfield was not ready for it. The poor box office performance and mixed reviews had hurt him and he did not want to continue.

When the infamous Sony mail hack happened, all the secrets were out in the world. Spider-Man was going to join the MCU in Captain America: Civil War but Marvel Studios wasn’t happy with the agreement with Sony.

Eventually, talks ceased and Sony and Marvel later agreed to a deal. This led to the cancellation of every Spider-Man project planned by Sony and Andrew Garfield was replaced.

No One Would Believe Andrew Garfield Now

When it was rumored that Garfield was going to appear in No Way Home, the actor was asked the question a million times. However, Garfield maintained his composure and lied about his involvement with the project.

We all know how that went. Theaters around the world erupted with joy when Garfield stepped out of the magic portal. So, Garfield did lie about his involvement but it was for the good of the world.

Now the problem that the actor feels he faces is credibility. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Garfield revealed that no one would ever believe anything that he said.

No update from me. No one’s going to believe anything I say ever again. That’s my problem.

So, if there is news regarding The Amazing Spider-Man 3, it’s going to be the boy and the tiger all over again. On the other hand, there are no confirmed reports of the movie… or are there?

The actor was recently seen in the 2024 film We Live in Time which received great acclaim and worldwide fame. The film is currently screening in theaters in the U.S.
