We are now in the endgame with The Boys, as the series finale is all set to stream on May 20, 2026. The explosive and deeply irreverent superhero show changed the genre, adding a celebrity twist to the world of supers. It was filled with political satire, quips at Hollywood’s expense, and extreme violence.
Now that the Amazon Prime Video series is all set to close its curtains, and the final battle between Billy and Homelander is done, fans need another irreverent and quirky superhero show to fill the void. Worry not. Here are five offbeat superhero shows that you can watch after The Boys finale.

1 Doom Patrol
The DC franchise has not shied away from exploring some weird superhero shows, with Peacemaker and Creature Commandos taking the cake in this genre. However, it sort of started with Doom Patrol, which saw a similar group of misfits banding together to fight villains, while the show explored their psyches.
The show is a bit more emotional and edgier than The Boys, and it does not have such overt political themes. However, it is not your usual run-of-the-mill superhero story. There are 4 seasons, and it has Brendan Fraser, Timothy Dalton, Alan Tudyk, Diane Guerrero, Matt Bomer, and April Bowlby in the lead roles.

2 Creature Commandos

Gunn wrote all episodes of the first season, and a second season is in production. It sees a black ops team of monsters and creatures, led by Rick Flag Sr., go on a mission assigned by Amanda Waller. It is edgy, funny, and surprisingly emotional at times.
While the animation might take out the viscerality in the violence in the show, Creature Commandos is still an amazingly quirky series that adds on to The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker school of shows from DC. Again, not as politically motivated as The Boys, but there are definitely some Easter Eggs in Creature Commandos.

3 Misfits
The cast of Misfits | Credits: E4Before The Boys made quirky superhero shows mainstream, Misfits explored chaos and edge in the superpowered world. The British show sees a group of young offenders get superpowers after a storm in prison. However, instead of helping people, the inmates cause chaos and make several bad decisions, which makes the show hilarious and interesting.
It is not as violent and stylized as The Boys, but it packs in a lot of humor, especially the British-style humor that we have come to love in shows like Fleabag (not to say these shows are similar in any way). Watch the Misfits for a truly oddball take on superheroes and superpowers. You might also recognize Iwan Rheon from a little show called Game of Thrones.
4 Legion

The comic behemoth may have spent all its resources on mainstream MCU films (and series), but it pushed the limit of the genre long before with Legion. Blending the superhero genre with surrealism and psychological thrills, Legion was in a different league.
The show sees David Haller, a mutant with psychic powers who is also diagnosed with schizophrenia. It sees him navigate his own mind as visions of others increasingly become more sinister. The visuals of The Boys do not come anywhere close to the experimentation of Legion. This ran so The Boys could fly.
5 The Umbrella Academy

Following a group of super-siblings who reunite at their father’s funeral, the show blends superhero madness with mind-bending time-travel adventure, supernatural horror, and gothic imagery, making it so quirky, weird, and unique that there are very few contemporaries.
The Netflix show has four seasons, and while the political innuendos are not as overt as The Boys, it definitely has similar edgy humor, dark storylines, and emotional undertones. Definitely watch The Umbrella Academy after The Boys finale.
