We are already deep into September 2026, and there are still some of the best shows to watch out for in the coming days. While last month’s regulars, like Lanterns, are returning with new episodes throughout this month, there are plenty of new seasons of fan favorites that are returning in September and have sorted out the weekend binges. All the shows on this list have proven their mettle in previous seasons, making their return all the more exciting.
We have quite a few returning shows this month, with fan favorites like Slow Horses coming back for a record-breaking sixth season and Netflix’s The Gentlemen coming back more than two years after it debuted. From sitcoms to psychological thrillers, we have you covered.
1 Chad Powers – Season 2
Glen Powell in Chad Powers | Credits: HuluGlen Powell’s sports comedy Chad Powers returns for a second season. The first season of the show saw Powell’s disgraced football quarterback Russ Holliday masquerade as the eponymous character for the Georgia Catfish. As Chad rises in the ranks and gains popularity, it becomes harder for Russ to hide his real identity. The show blends comedy and sports action with a genuinely exciting premise that builds suspense. If you are in the mood for a fun, edge-of-the-seat sports action drama, then go for Chad Powers Season 2.
Chad Powers Season 2 dropped on Hulu on September 3, 2026. All six episodes dropped at once. This time around, the show went beyond just Russ hiding his secret. It also explored Ricky knowing the secret and the duo trying their best to keep it together, which was a great premise to explore.

2 Slow Horses – Season 6
The cast of Slow Horses | Credits: Apple TVGary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb is back to Slough House with his group of MI5 pariahs. The Apple TV+ show has created a record by lasting so many seasons, and the stakes are only amping up. This time around, the show will see MI5 Deputy Director-General Diana Taverner take the gang for a ride in a quest for revenge.
The show explores the espionage genre, which has declined quite a bit in the past few years. You must watch the sixth season of Slow Horses because it remains the smartest, funniest spy thriller on television, balancing bureaucratic grime with genuinely lethal stakes. Gary Oldman’s performance is as incredible as ever, and it will be exciting to see how he plays Jackson Lamb again. House of the Dragon star Olivia Cooke is also reprising her season one role. So, we have a stacked star cast this season. Episodes begin to drop on September 16.

3 Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story – Season 4
Ella Beatty in Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story | Credits: NetflixRyan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology tackles its first female monster. Ella Beatty stars as the accused 1892 axe murderer, with Vicky Krieps as maid Bridget Sullivan and Charlie Hunnam and Rebecca Hall as her ill-fated parents. The Netflix show will explore gender, s*xuality, and class in Victorian New England.
The series has always courted controversy, with the first two anthology series making headlines for sensationalizing serial killers. This one is interesting because it sets the time period in a different century, when serial killers were not as prominent. It will also be interesting to see how the makers will deal with a female serial killer in one of the most restrictive times in history.
The previous installment, The Ed Gein Story, was also a success. Episodes of the new season will drop at once on September 17, 2026.

4 The Paper – Season 2
A still from The Paper | Credits: PeacockThe Office universe expands again as the documentary crew trades Dunder Mifflin for the struggling Toledo Truth Teller. Domhnall Gleeson’s earnest editor-in-chief Ned Sampson chases a journalistic crusade after the paper sweeps the Ohio Journalism Awards, setting his sights on a local private club and risking the paper’s future in the process.
Meanwhile, his budding office romance with reporter Mare Pritti complicates things further. A spinoff of The Office had its naysayers, but the show proved itself in its freshman season. It will be exciting to see how the new season holds up to the standards set by its predecessor. The Office also took a season to pick up and became one of the best sitcoms of all time.
All ten episodes of The Paper Season 2 dropped together on September 9, 2026.

5 The Gentlemen – Season 2
Theo James in The Gentlemen | Credits: NetflixWhen Guy Ritchie released his stoner action crime comedy, The Gentlemen, little did we know that a series was in the mix. Theo James and Kaya Scodelario established the universe of aristocrats in the dr*g trade in season one. Now, the sophomore season picks up a year after the events of the first season and sees the duo expand their operations in Italy.
Hugh Bonneville and Michele Morrone join the cast as the story widens its scope beyond the English countryside. The first season proved itself with its style and suave acting from James and Scodelario, and fans have been waiting for the duo to return and give them hell. Watch the show if you are in the mood for a fun crime drama set in the tone of Guy Ritchie.
All eight episodes have already been released, and a third season is already confirmed. FandomWire rated the latest season of The Gentlemen a solid 7/10.
