Hannover entertain Elversberg in a key 2. Bundesliga fixture in the race for promotion.

Elversberg target their first-ever win over Hannover as the two teams will lock horns for crucial three points in the race for promotion. The teams drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture, which is the scoreline in half of the six meetings so far in DFB-Pokal and 2. Bundesliga.

Maik Nawrocki’s winner in the derby against Eintracht Braunschweig put Hannover further closer to the top three before the international break. Although there are two teams between them and Elversberg, a win on Sunday will see Hannover get past the second-placed team.

Elversberg reduced the gap with the league leaders Schalke to a single point following their 3-1 victory over Arminia Bielefeld. Lukas Petkov was the star player as he scored the first two goals in Elversberg’s third successive home win.
