Aaron Taylor-Johnson met his eventual wife Sam Taylor-Johnson (née Taylor-Wood) when he was cast in the director’s 2009 biographical drama movie Nowhere Boy. When he first met the woman he ended up marrying, Taylor-Johnson was only nineteen years old.

She admitted that while they kept things professional as soon as the filming concluded, Taylor-Johnson expressed his desire to marry her.
Everyone on set knew. And as soon as we finished, he told me he was going to marry me. We had never been on a date, or even kissed.
Sam Taylor-Johnson made the above statement, with her husband adding that he proposed to the director for marriage exactly one year after the incident.
The couple announced their engagement in 2009, at the premiere of Nowhere Boy. They eventually tied the knot at Babington House, Somerset, in June 2012. Taylor-Johnson was previously married to art dealer Jay Jopling before they split in 2008.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson remains unbothered by criticism of his age-gap marriage
Aaron and Sam Taylor-Johnson recently completed thirteen years of marriage. However, even after all this time, their relationship remains the question of media scrutiny, primarily because of their drastic age gap. The couple has an age difference with the actor being 24 years junior to his filmmaker wife.

The Kraven the Hunter actor said the following, being largely unbothered by the gossip around his marriage:
You’re doing something too quickly for someone else? I don’t understand that. What speed are you supposed to enjoy life at? It’s bizarre to me.
Similarly, Sam Taylor-Johnson also addressed the age gap between her and her husband, noting that it was hardly ever an issue for the couple. She told The Guardian:
We’re a bit of an anomaly, but it’s that thing: after 14 years you just think, surely by now it doesn’t really matter?
From the couple’s words, it is evident that the couple is unbothered by the chatter about their relationship while acknowledging that their marriage isn’t a conventional one because of their age difference.
However, despite being married for so long, the Taylor-Johnsons are showing no signs of letting their relationship be affected by media and public scrutiny. The couple keep their personal life private and have two daughters. At the same time, Taylor-Johnson is also the stepfather to his wife’s two daughters from her first marriage.
