Sixteen years after her murder, investigators are still on the hunt for the killer of an Orangeville woman.

Sonia Varaschin, 42, a pediatric nurse, was last seen visiting her parents in Bolton on Aug. 29, 2010.
The next day, her white Toyota Corolla was found abandoned behind a downtown Orangeville business, with blood stains on the car’s rear bumper, trunk and driver’s-side door.
That prompted the now-defunct Orangeville Police Service to treat her disappearance as a homicide, requesting the help of the Ontario Provincial Police.
Varaschin’s remains were found a week later in a wooded area off Beech Grove Sideroad, between Orangeville and Caledon Village.
Her killer was never located, making her murder one of Ontario’s most high-profile and troubling cold cases.

$50,000 reward remains unclaimed, police still hunting clues
The OPP, which took carriage of the investigation after Orangeville police were disbanded six years ago, are still seeking clues in solving her murder.
“We have never wavered in our search to find Sonia’s killer,” said Det. Insp. Shawn Glassford of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.
“Our determination remains as strong today as it was when this investigation began. Investigators continue to review information and follow up on leads. Someone knows the truth. It’s time to come forward.”
A $50,000 reward remains in place for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Varaschin’s killer.
Police are also re-releasing a video produced six years ago documenting the investigation into her killer.
