Firearm seized after police pursuit in Ajax

A 38-year-old Toronto man is facing impaired driving and firearm offences after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop in Ajax earlier this week.

Durham Regional Police said West Division officers pulled over a vehicle on Wednesday at about 7:40 p.m. in the Audley Rd.-Kerrison Dr. area after the driver allegedly showed signs of impairment.

When officers demanded that the driver exit the vehicle, police said he allegedly fled at a high rate of speed with the officers not pursuing.

Officers later found the suspect with the help of AIR1 after he was picked up by another vehicle after exiting the suspect vehicle. He was taken into custody when officers made a second traffic stop.
