Berkay Yilmaz and SC Freiburg will continue their partnership into the foreseeable future, the Baden-Württemberg club confirmed.

It's already been agreed that the 21-year-old will return to Freiburg at the end of the season after his two-year loan spell at 1. FC Nürnberg.

In doing so, Yilmaz will extend his contract with the Breisgau club long-term, to the delight of sporting director Klemens Hartenbach:

"Berkay has adapted very well to the second division and showed a good mix of attacking play and defensive responsibility in Nürnberg.

“Berkay has a big heart and a total identification with SC Freiburg – that's a good foundation for working together on the details. We're looking forward to it,” he added.

This campaign, the Turkish left-back featured in 32 games across the 2.Bundesliga, whilst also chipping in with 6 assists.
