Yannik Engelhardt on the brink of Bundesliga return with SC Freiburg

The Breisgauers continue to invest heavily in their squad ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 Bundesliga season.

After recent reports of an initial offer for Yannik Engelhardt from Como 1907, the 25-year-old is now apparently close to a move to Freiburg.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal is already done. Engelhardt will be transferred from Lombardy to Breisgau.

Fellow transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri also reports on the defensive midfielder's imminent return to Germany's topflight.

Besides Freiburg, Club Brugge were also vying intensely for Engelhardt, who spent last season on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Just a few days ago, the Belgian club's offer of €10million was higher than Freiburg's €8million, but the Bundesliga club seem to have prevailed.
