X-Men and Avengers Doomsday

SUMMARY

  • Deadpool & Wolverine, beyond Deadpool's fourth wall breaks, was pretty meta, so much so that it could inform the final battle in the Multiverse Saga.
  • The Worst Wolverine could hail from a timeline representative of failed Fox films, such as the universe where the Fox Marvel characters (like The Fantastic Four and X-Men) co-exist.
  • This could be where RDJ's Doom originated, leading into the age of The Fantastic Four and the X-Men in the MCU.

Deadpool & Wolverine introduced the Worst Wolverine, whose tragic past involved him failing to show up to assist the X-Men when they needed him the most, leading to their demise. However, a theory suggests that Marvel Studios could expand on this Wolverine’s backstory when introducing the chief antagonist of the Multiverse Saga.

Given that the character was a part of Deadpool’s third film, there was a lot of meta stuff going on with the characters. With Others looking for an ending (given that they came from franchises that were axed before their time), Wolverine could be the representative of a timeline that had a slew of Fox Marvel properties co-existing, which could mean that RDJ’s Doctor Doom could be a part of that universe.

A Fox version of Civil War would have had The Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Daredevil cross paths

Before there was Captain America: Civil War in the MCU, a very different Civil War was being worked on by the Marvel faction of 20th Century Fox. This film, which never made it into full production, would have seen The X-Men and the Fantastic Four face-off, which would be this universe’s version of Civil War. This would directly lead to a second film, which would be based on the Secret Invasion crossover event.

The Wort Wolverine could hail from this timeline, which could have seen all its heroes fall, allowing this universe’s version of Doctor Doom to take over the world without much opposition. Should this universe’s version be Doctor Doom, in that it would be representative of an idea that had great potential but was tucked away due to corporate greed, the character could serve as a more meta villain in the MCU, while also bringing a deeper meaning to the final conflict of the saga.

The Fantastic Four and The X-Men will probably lead the next Saga of the MCU

The Avengers became one of the hottest properties in Hollywood in the last decade. However, it cannot be denied that these characters were not as popular before their films took off, at least compared to Marvel’s actual A-tier characters like The X-Men and The Fantastic Four. With these characters back with Marvel, it is clear that the MCU is going to focus on giving these characters the center stage, as the wider Avengers line-up takes a back seat.

As more films in the coming phases focus on the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, Avengers films might become a Saga type of event, with single characters like Thor, Captain Marvel, Captain America, and Black Panther, getting films here and there, with no sign of a proper team up in sight. X-Men and Fantastic Four villains like Apocalypse, Trask, and Galactus could take center stage, leading the Avengers to become a rarer sight in the MCU, as it focuses on characters like The X-Men, Daredevil, The Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man.
