Woman, 33, sought for crime spree targeting vehicles in Mississauga

A 33-year-old woman has been identified as a second suspect allegedly involved in nearly six dozen vehicle break-ins this month in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police said the investigation has already led to the arrest of a male suspect just days ago.

Police said the smash-and-grab incidents, 71 in total, occurred during the early morning hours of Sept. 3 and 6. Vehicles were targeted in neighbourhoods throughout Mississauga, cops said.

Windows smashed or unlocked doors opened

Investigators allege that valuables were stolen from vehicles after windows were smashed or unlocked doors were opened by the culprits.

According to police, the vehicles themselves were not stolen and all were unoccupied at the time of the alleged crimes.

Investigators have now turned to the public to help locate the female suspect.

Andrea Cederberg is wanted on 23 counts of attempting to commit an indictable offence, nine counts each of mischief over $5,000 and theft under $5,000, and one count of theft over $5,000.

Cops made earlier arrest

Police said this crime spree is connected to the recent arrest of a 34-year-old man.

On Thursday, police announced Cory Lowden was charged with 46 counts of attempting to commit an indictable offence, 16 counts of theft under $5,000, 15 counts of mischief over $5,000, and one count of theft over $5,000.

Lowden was also arrested for two outstanding warrants related to separate fraud investigations, cops said. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

“This arrest sends a clear message that individuals who target our communities will be aggressively pursued and held accountable,” Chief Nishan Duraiappah said in an earlier statement.

“Through determined investigative work, our officers were able to identify and arrest a suspect believed to be responsible for these incidents. Thank you to our community members who reported these crimes, allowing our officers to link them together.”

Other potential connections

Police said detectives have also identified potential connections to similar investigations involving vehicles currently being conducted in Toronto, York, Halton and Waterloo Region, adding they continue to work with authorities across the Greater Toronto Area to determine the full scope of the alleged activities.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Cederberg, or information about these incidents, to contact investigators with the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 1133.
