Who is Matt Lauer’s daughter, Romy?

Romy Lauer made headlines in August 2024 when Page Six revealed she had crashed her car into a fence in the Hamptons before fleeing the scene over the Fourth of July weekend.

Although the daughter of Matt Lauer and model Annette Roque keeps most of her social media accounts private, we know she is a college student at the University of Miami.

She does, however, showcase life with her friends and boyfriend on TikTok to her nearly 30,000 followers.

The former “Today” co-anchor and Roque welcomed Romy, their only daughter together, on Oct. 3, 2003. The former couple met on a blind date in July 1997, were engaged five months later and tied the knot in the Hamptons on Oct. 3, 1998.

Roque initially filed for divorce from Matt in 2006 for alleged “mental abuse, extreme mental and emotional distress, humiliation, torment, and anxiety.” However, she dismissed the filing shortly after and they made up.

Roque and Matt broke up for good in 2019 after he was fired from the “Today” show over allegations of “inappropriate sexual behavior.”

Despite the high-profile scandal and divorce, Matt and Romy appeared to stay close as she posts videos with him on her TikTok.

The family reunited in June 2022 to celebrate the teen’s graduation from Pierson High School in East Hampton.

Matt and Roque also share sons Jack, born June 26, 2001, and Thijs, born Nov. 28, 2006.

She is a college student

Romy began her collegiate career at the University of Miami in Florida in September 2022, according to her LinkedIn.

She is studying to get her degree in general finance and has taken classes in economics, management and marketing.

When she’s not attending her classes, Romy enjoys going out with her friends. She frequently posts TikToks of her and her friends cooking, dancing and getting ready for nights out and gamedays.

She has a boyfriend

While she loves posting videos with her friends, Romy mostly shares posts with her boyfriend of one year, Spanish tennis player Antonio Prat.

She mainly shares videos of them dancing, holding hands, snuggling, lip-syncing to popular TikTok songs and going on vacations.

She showed her love for him in a June 2024 TikTok post where she shared a mirror selfie of him kissing her forehead, writing over the picture, “my favorite animal is me when any girl looks at my boyfriend for literally more than 0.2 seconds.”

“jk honestly hes so hot i get it,” she captioned the upload.

They celebrated their first anniversary on April 9, 2024, and Prat shared a series of sweet photos to commemorate the occasion.

She is an equestrian

Romy followed in her mom’s footsteps and became an equestrian, in part because of her mother’s horse farm in Water Mill, N.Y.

The college student even has her own Instagram page dedicated to the sport, sharing photos of herself in various competitions and giving updates on her horses.

In early June 2024, Romy scored second place while riding Che Spectre at the Princeton Show Jumping competition in New Jersey.

She’s also competed in the Hampton Classic, Upperville Colt and Horse Show and the Old Salem Farm Fall Horse Show Week, according to her riding profile on ShowNet.

Of course, Romy has also displayed this side of her life with her TikTok followers, posting videos of her petting her horses, wearing a riding helmet and practicing her skills in a barn.

She had a fender-bender in the Hamptons

Page Six broke the news in August 2024 that Romy had crashed her Jeep Wrangler into a fence and a sign in Southampton around 4 a.m. on July 5, 2024.

Despite fleeing the scene, Romy was eventually discovered to be the culprit after she accidentally left her license plate behind when it fell off during the accident.

A source told Page Six that she has been issued a summons for leaving the scene, but hired local attorney Edward Burke Jr. to help “resolve” things for her.

Just hours before the incident, Romy posted a TikTok video of her mouthing a popular TikTok noise to “start your engines!”

Neither Romy nor her famous parents have publicly addressed the accident.
