According to the sheriff, the sidewinder in question is horse-obsessed Karly Tripp, 30, of Waterdown, Ont., who is charged in a pair of probes linked to the equine industry in Milton.
Using the alias “Hailey Wood,” Calamity Karly allegedly arranged a meeting with the victim in May under a fictional guise. In addition, cops say Tripp contacted schools associated with the victim while impersonating the woman in a gambit to obtain confidential information.
Victim became suspicious
When the victim became suspicious of “Hailey Wood,” she called the police. Detectives subsequently identified and arrested Tripp.
The accused and victim are not known to one another and had never previously met. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident and there were no financial losses suffered by the victim(s).
Tripp was arrested on May 22 and is charged with: Criminal Harassment and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Cops suspect she could be a serial rustler. HRPS also charged Tripp in April with Theft over $5,000, Fraudulently Taking Cattle and Injuring or Endangering other Animals. These charges were in relation to the theft of a horse in Milton.

Social media is full of alleged horror stories regarding Tripp, who is portrayed as a thief and con artist.
One Facebook user wrote: “Just wanted to warn all my other horse friends and shippers out there. If a woman by the name of Karly Autumn, Karly Tripp, Stacy Tripp, or Tasha messages you for shipping or anything for sale, be warned.
“She actively stole a horse yesterday and seems to be continuing to try to do so again. She claims she needs emergency shipping and is simply stealing horses later in the evening. She has multiple cell phone numbers and identities.”
Harness racing industry
Tripp appears to be active in the harness racing industry.
Both investigations and the subsequent charges are related to the equine industry, and investigators believe Karly Tripp may be involved in similar occurrences throughout the GTA and that there may be additional victims and/or aliases used by Tripp. Investigators encourage anyone who believes they have been targeted to contact their local police service.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
Anyone with information in Halton regarding these investigations or Tripp is asked to contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2416.
Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at haltoncrimestoppers.ca.
