In Venice, to receive the Best Actress award for the film Babygirl, Kidman had to leave midway when she received the devastating news of her mother’s passing. Janelle Kidman was 84 when she breathed her last, the cause of death is not known yet.
While Kidman was not there to accept the award, the film’s director, Halina Reijn took over on her behalf and read a statement that Kidman had written.
Today, I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed. I am in shock and I have to go to my family. But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me.
