Tyreek Hill's Arresting Officer's History Revealed

The Miami-Dade police department officer who handcuffed Tyreek Hill reportedly has a history of complaints.

The arresting cop who placed his knee in the athlete's back and roughly placed him in handcuffs during a traffic stop last weekend has been accused of towing the same aggressive path in the past.

Tyreek Hill was pulled over and served two tickets for breaking traffic laws on his way to the Sunday game, but the encounter escalated on the spot.

Tyreek Hill's Arresting Officer Has Been Suspended Multiple Times

The Miami-Dade police department reportedly confirmed that the cop, identified as Danny Torres, has received multiple complaints from aggrieved road users since he joined the force in October 1996.

According to the records, the officer was accused of misconduct, force violations, and improper procedures. He was also reportedly investigated for using force at least 13 times during his service.

Per TMZ, the official records showed that Torres had faced multiple disciplinary actions, bagged written reprimands, and multiple suspensions, with one ban in 2018, which lasted 20 days.

On the other hand, the famous cop has received over 24 commendations in his 28 years of service, the most recent being an award for professionalism in May 2023.

Torres is currently on administrative duties at the Miami-Dade police department. A source close to the development shared that MDPD officials have commenced an investigation into his behavior with Hill on that day.

The cop and Hill got into a heated back-and-forth right outside of Hard Rock Stadium last Saturday.

Hill Accused The Law Officer Of Being 'Too Rough'

Hill, who was given two tickets for careless driving and seat belt violation, claimed the officer was too rough with him. He noted that Torres's action should have led to the termination of his appointment. 

Torres' reps have since explained that his actions were only a direct response to Hill's refusal to cooperate with officers at the scene.

The reps argued that the cop's conduct was justified and asked for his reinstatement into the workforce.

Hill did not let the situation surrounding his arrest deter him from playing in both Dolphins' games. So far, he has logged 154 receiving yards on ten catches.

The Blast noted that Hill was moving at a "high rate of speed visual estimation 60 MPH" in an area with heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic — at least 20 MPH above the limit.

If found guilty, he was ordered to pay $380 in fines, but a court appearance was non-mandatory. Hill, however, did not go down without a fight during his arrest. Body camera footage from the scene showed the NFL superstar being defensive with the authorities.

The officers then reacted to his stance by grabbing him out of the vehicle and putting him face down on the ground. Hill was later let go to attend his game, where he made seven catches, including an 80-yard reception, to score a touchdown and secure the Miami Dolphins' victory.

"For me, personally, I believe the police officers that did that to Tyreek shouldn't be in that position -- they should be let go," Rosenhaus noted. The agent continued that the cop who handled Hill roughly should be fired as he declared:

He rounded his statement by stating: "That was horrendous how they treated him, they didn't treat him like a human being."
