Peel regional Police say officers executed a search warrant at a residence near Lakeshore Rd. E. and Hydro Rd. – west of Dixie Rd. – on Dec. 29 and seized two loaded firearms, one equipped with an extended magazine, and an auto sear.
“An auto sear allows a semi-automatic firearm to be converted into one capable of automatic firing with a single, continuous pull of the trigger,” police said in a statement released Saturday.
Cops also allegedly seized drugs and Canadian currency.
“This investigation highlights our commitment to keeping our communities safe by removing dangerous and illegal firearms and drugs from the streets of Peel Region,” Deputy Chief Marc Andrews said in the statement. “We will continue to hold individuals accountable, and advocate for the necessary reforms to strengthen the bail system and put an end to this ongoing cycle of crime.”
