The Georgia Viaduct will be closed on Saturday, May 30, to allow for the removal of a nearby crane, said the City of Vancouver.

The viaduct will be shut down to vehicles and pedestrians from the intersection of West Georgia and Beatty streets to Prior Street from 6 a.m. Saturday to at least 8 p.m.

The closure is to allow for the removal of a crane at a nearby development at 150 W. Georgia on the corner of Beatty Street.

The work is expected to be completed Saturday, said the city. If it is not completed, the closure could be extended until 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The closure affects drivers heading out of downtown Vancouver towards east Vancouver. Pedestrians and cyclists will also not be allowed on the viaduct.

Dunsmuir Viaduct, which is for vehicles heading into downtown, will remain open.
