Toronto man accused of causing carnage in stolen TTC truck; shots fired at Ajax home

Police said TTC truck collided with several other vehicles with two people suffering non-life-threatening injuries

A 39-year-old Toronto man has been charged with numerous offences after being accused of stealing a TTC truck in the downtown area and leaving a trail of carnage in his wake.

Toronto Police said officers responded to a call about a motor-vehicle theft in the College-Bay Sts. area on Friday at about 11:30 a.m., where a suspect allegedly stole a marked TTC pickup truck and fled from the scene.

Police said the truck collided with several other vehicles, with two people suffering non-life-threatening injuries, before a suspect was later arrested in the Eglinton Ave. W.-Royal York Rd. area.

Andrew Boomer was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, possession of property obtained by crime, operation while prohibited, breach of probation and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident without stopping.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims affected by the incident and asked residents, businesses and drivers who may have security or dashcam footage of the area or incident to contact investigators at 416-808-5200. Cops probing shots fired at Ajax home

Durham Regional Police are seeking tips on a Saturday night shooting in Ajax.

Cops said no injuries were reported after officers received reports of a shooting outside of a home on Sunday at about 9:50 a.m. in the Taunton Rd. E.-Salem Rd. area.

They said officers found “numerous” shell casings and “obvious” damage to the residence that was caused by a discharged firearm and determined the incident happened on Saturday night at about 11 p.m.

Investigators believe it was an isolated incident and there was no risk to the public’s safety.

No suspect information was available.

Elopee located by cops

Toronto Police are no longer looking for a man who escaped from a mental-health facility last week.

Cops had been looking for Ahmed Ahmed, 42, who was last seen in the Ossington Ave.-Queen St. W. area near the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health on Thursday at about 7 p.m.

He was located on Friday at about 10 p.m.

“The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance,” police said in a new release.
