Tom Holland DC

SUMMARY

  • Frank Grillo has left the MCU to join its competitor DC, but he retained one lesson.
  • The actor revealed that Marvel almost fired him for revealing too much about upcoming films.
  • This experience made him more jaded and stringent with talks about his new role in DC.

Being a part of two of the biggest superhero franchises ever comes with its list of pros and cons. Actors associated with highly anticipated films are often directed to keep their mouths shut. Before the premiere during interviews and promotions, it is advised to give out limited information about their upcoming role or film’s storyline.

Tom Holland became a notorious example of accidental spoilers. The Spider-Man actor was plagued with loose lips syndrome, wherein he often divulged confidential information about a new movie. In a hilarious statement, fellow Marvel turned DC actor, Frank Grillo claimed he wanted to avoid similar circumstances. The actor was very stringent with his statements regarding his upcoming movie, citing precaution.

Frank Grillo joined the MCU as Brock Rumlow, aka Crossbones. The actor first appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and a year later in Captain America: Civil War. He also reprised his role in the 2019 movie, Avengers: Endgame, which became his last venture.

The actor finally revealed his switch to the other side, joining the DC Universe. Grillo is cast as the voice actor for Rick Flag Sr. in the animated series Creature Commandos. The actor is also scheduled to appear in an upcoming Superman movie.

DC warned Frank Grillo about spilling secrets:

“You know, unfortunately, there's nothing I can really say that wouldn't get me in trouble. So I kind of have to step back and go, ‘I take the fifth.’ I am so bad at this. Like, Marvel almost fired me 36 f—ing times because I… pic.twitter.com/sLO3leXHC3

When questioned about his role in the new franchise, the actor was hesitant and guarded. He told ComicBook that revealing too much information almost cost him his job at Marvel.

I am so bad at this. Like, Marvel almost fired me 36 f—ing times because I don’t know. I never want to lie. And so, I do that a little too much.

The actor hilariously exposed that he had a habit of accidentally giving out spoilers, for which he was reprimanded. Now with a bright future ahead in a different superhero universe, Grillo wanted to make sure he didn’t repeat the same mistakes.

Spoiler Alert! Marvel’s most problematic superheroes

The DC Universe may have been exempted from the risks of talkative actors, but its competitor was not. The MCU had its fair share of risky individuals who revealed too much ahead of their movies.

Tom Holland is one prime example of the same. The Spider-Man: No Way Home lead was a walking hazard for accidental reveals. Many times the actor ended up spoiling details of unreleased movies while answering questions at interviews.

However, he was not the only one to blame for taking being candid too far. Fellow co-star Mark Ruffalo who portrayed Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk also had the same condition. On many occasions, Ruffalo ended up sharing crucial plot details with the public.

With Grillo in the mix for the earlier movies, the franchise had a lot of loose lips to deal with. Fortunately, the actor took past experiences as a caution tale and now is extra careful when it comes to talking about his roles.

Creature Commandos is scheduled to premiere on 5 December 2024 on Max.
