T.J. Holmes & Amy Robach Considering 'Couples Therapy,' Don't Want To 'Rush Into' Marriage

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes recently admitted that they're in no rush to marry but have discussed their future together.

Holmes also shared his changing views on therapy, noting it helped him through dark times, and joked about trying couples therapy with Robach.

Despite the scandal surrounding their romance, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach have consistently denied infidelity, stating they were separated from their spouses before dating.

Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes Discuss Future Together, No Rush For Marriage

On their new podcast "I Do, Part 2," with Jana Kramar and Jennie Garth, which explores "love, resilience, and second chances," Robach revealed she and Holmes aren't in any hurry to tie the knot.

"There is no urgency in the sense that I'm 51 years old. I don't need to rush into anything," Robach said, per Page Six.

Reflecting on her past, Robach admitted, "I think I have rushed into everything in my life up until now. But, he knows I wanna get married, and I know he wants to get married."

The former ABC news anchor, who began dating Holmes in 2022, assured listeners that they're on the same page when it comes to their future.

However, While they frequently talk about marriage, they've chosen not to set a definitive timeline.

"We haven't put a timeline together, and we talk about it all the time," Robach stated. "I don't think a week goes by where we don't discuss like, 'Should we? Should we?'"

T.J. Holmes Says He Is 'Such A Fan Of Love'

Holmes jumped in during the podcast chat, expressing how being with Robach has changed his perspective on love.

He said, "I am such a fan of love. There is nothing I love more than a wedding and just the idea of somebody making that commitment and a new beginning and building something together."

Holmes further explained that this time feels different for him, noting, "It doesn't feel like the next step. [Like], 'What needs to be done? It's been so long.' No, I just want to marry her."

Robach echoed his feelings, telling listeners that she finds "a sense of safety and comfort" in their relationship.

"There is an ease in knowing that person has publicly and legally committed to working it out with you," she said, adding, "I do want to be married, and I do love the idea of having a partner and sticking with each other through the good days and the bad."

T.J. Holmes Considers Couples Therapy With Amy Robach' Just For The Experience'

During the chat, Holmes humorously mentioned that he's considering attending couples therapy with Robach just for the experience.

Reflecting on his past experiences with therapy, Holmes shared, "I never knew people went to therapy until maybe I was in my late 30s. I'm a Black man in the South. There's no talk about [that]. There's just some things that did not get discussed and never heard about."

He added: "It wasn't until recently that I was the height of my professional success — but it was the lowest I'd ever been in my personal life."

Holmes noted that he had "finally just hit a wall," and a friend suggested he seek help. Therapy, he noted, was "helpful," adding, "It's not something I keep up, but it was helpful for some of the darkest periods of my life."

Now, Holmes is open to trying couples therapy with Robach simply out of curiosity.

"I haven't done couples therapy with Robach yet," he explained. "We've talked about doing so. We don't know why — we just want to go and see what happens."

Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes Have Agreed To 'Commit To One Another'

In a December 2023 episode of their "Amy and T.J." podcast, the former broadcasters revealed that marriage was "on the table."

By April, Robach and Holmes admitted they were still uncertain whether to take the legal step or remain committed as life partners without formalizing it.

"We're still deciding about what that level of commitment is … whether it's legal or not," Robach shared on the podcast. "But mentally, emotionally, we've absolutely agreed to commit to one another. We haven't figured [out] the marriage thing out yet."

Holmes added that tying the knot would make things feel "more official" and "more real" for him.

The couple began their romantic relationship in 2022 while co-hosting "GMA3," despite both being legally married to Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig at the time.

Their romance became heavily publicized due to the infidelity scandal, and ultimately led to them being axed by ABC.

Amy Robach Recalls Falling For T.J. Holmes

On an episode of the "Amy & T.J." podcast in June, Robach shared how she and Holmes' mutual attraction developed while they were still hosting "GMA3: What You Need to Know."

Holmes admitted that he confessed his feelings to Robach before they had even "held hands."

"I don't [think] I ever, like, touched your hand," Robach remarked, adding, "We never held hands. There was nothing physical. And I never in my life could have imagined feeling that kind of love for someone where it never started out as lust. ... It was just this deep foundation of friendship, love, respect."

She explained, "We had been in the trenches together on television, in a very high-stress situation in the network newsroom, and we had been there for each other in our darkest moments. We started leaning on each other in so many emotional ways."

"And it was just there was such a depth to what we had. It was so different than anything I've ever experienced," Robach added, per People magazine.
