Police in Surrey say shots were fired early Tuesday morning at a home in Cloverdale.

The Surrey Police Service got a call from a homeowner in the 16500-block of 58th Avenue at about 8 a.m., telling them they had found what appeared to be gunshot damage to the residence.

Officers confirmed the damage to the exterior was caused by gunfire that was heard at 2:51 a.m. The residents were at home but no one was injured.

The Surrey police extortion response team has taken over the investigation and early indications are that extortion was behind the gunfire.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or who has dashcam or surveillance footage from the area, is asked to call the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502.
