A 25-year-old man allegedly had the pedal to the metal while travelling on Hwy. 404 in Whitchurch-Stouffville late Monday night.

In a Facebook post, the Ontario Provincial Police said the driver from North York was clocked going 175 km/h in an Acura MDX that belonged to his mom.

Police said the driver was charged with speeding and stunt driving, and his licence was suspended for 30 days.

It also said his mother’s vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Cops probing sex assaults at Kitchener mall

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a series of sexual assaults that happened at a Kitchener mall in July.

Police said the alleged assaults happened at Fairview Park Mall on July 17 involving a lone male suspect.

Cops had released a photo of the man on Tuesday, but the photo was removed later in the day with police stating the suspect has been identified.

Police told CityNews Kitchener that investigators are aware of two female victims, but believe there may be other victims.

Moose on the loose in Collingwood captured

A moose spotted wandering Collingwood’s waterfront trails and nearby streets Tuesday morning was safely relocated after police, firefighters, and Ministry of Natural Resources staff reportedly worked together to capture it.

In a post on social media, the OPP nicknamed the animal “Elliot Moose,” and had warned the public to exercise caution if they encountered it and to give it space to move freely.

Later in the afternoon, the OPP said the moose was safely captured and would be relocated farther north.

According to CollingwoodToday.com, the moose, a young bull, was spotted in the arboretum at Harbourview Park and was tranquilized by Bear Wise staff, with the animal falling into the water by the park.

Firefighters who arrived at the scene reportedly helped move the moose from the water to a trailer.
