Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 56-year-old female bus driver from Beeton, Ont, with stunt driving after allegedly going twice the speed limit while there were children in the bus.

Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the OPP say on Tuesday the driver was seen travelling 100 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone in the township of Mulmur, Ont., around 4 p.m.
Dufferin OPP officers were doing traffic enforcement in the area of County Rd.17 and Prince of Wales Rd. when they observed a school bus travelling at a high rate of speed.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver regarding the excessive speed, particularly given that children were on board the bus at the time of the offence.
Driver faces three charges, including speeding and stunt driving
As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with speeding 50+ km/h over the posted limit, stunt driving with excessive speed, and failing to surrender their licence.
The OPP say this incident is particularly concerning, given the location, given that just over five weeks ago, the same intersection was the scene of a fatal two-vehicle collision.
In that accident on April 19, Dufferin OPP said a six-year-old boy was killed while a two-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries but survived.
Police say incidents such as the one with the accused bus driver highlight the importance of safe and responsible driving, especially when children are involved.
The Dufferin OPP remains committed to road safety and will continue proactive enforcement efforts throughout the county to ensure motorists are operating safely and within the posted speed limits.
