An Illinois nurse and mother was allegedly sexually assaulted, beaten and strangled to death by her ex-boyfriend in an hours-long violent attack that was recorded.

The body of Katherine “Kat” Torbick, 43, was discovered by cops in her home on April 30 after a wellness check. The woman’s ex-boyfriend, Kevin Motykie, 56, was arrested and facing charges of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual assault.

Cops descended on Torbick’s Shamburg home for a welfare check after a 911 caller reported not being able to reach the woman throughout the day, the Schaumburg Police Department said. Torbick shared the home with Motykie, her longtime ex-flame.

Authorities forced their way into the residence and found Torbick’s body. Motykie was located in the garage and arrested on an outstanding warrant for a domestic battery case that involved the woman.

What was found on recording device

Upon searching Motykie, cops found a digital recording device which contained a more than seven-hour-long audio recording of Torbick allegedly being sexually assaulted, bound, beaten and strangled, WGN9 reported.

According to prosecutors, the duo can be heard arguing in the audio clip, with Torbick begging Motykie to get off her and to not put handcuffs on her, CBS News reported.

The suspect allegedly continued to yell at Torbick, accusing her of cheating, and sexually assaulting her as she pleaded with him to stop.

Motykie allegedly continued to sexually assault and question Torbick in the recording, which also featured audio of the man allegedly hitting the victim and restraining her with duct tape.

Torbick was allegedly told by Motykie that he would murder her and refused to release her. Prosecutors said he choked her throughout the violent affair.

The woman was allegedly strangled for the final time in the last four minutes of the audio clip, WGN9 reported.

“I gotta go hang myself, Motykie reportedly said. “This will take 30 seconds, and think of somewhere happy.”

History of domestic violence allegations

According to cops, Motykie slurred his speech and appeared intoxicated upon his arrest. He admitted to authorities that he had taken lorazepam, an anxiety drug, and hydrocodone, a painkiller.

The suspect has a lengthy history of domestic violence allegations, including being accused of choking Torbick, hitting her, and trying to gouge out her eyeballs in March, WGN9 reported.

Motykie allegedly threatened to kill himself as he held Torbick at knife-point in that incident. The woman eventually fled to a neighbour’s home.

Motykie has been ordered held without bail and will return to court on May 29.
